Contests for EU awards for investigative journalism in WBT closed
The 2015 contests for EU awards for investigative journalism in Western Balkans and Turkey have been closed in all countries. 
 
Investigative stories contributing to transparency and reporting on societal issues related to abuse of power and fundamental rights, corruption and organised crime that otherwise would not have been brought to the public's attention qualify for the award. The 2015 contests are rewarding the investigative journalistic works published in 2014.
 
The number of nominations received are the following: Serbia: 21 nominations with 19 stories being nominated, Turkey: 28 nominations, Bosnia and Herzegovina: 49 valid nominations, Kosovo: 41 nominations, Montenegro: 21  nominations, Albania: 19 nominations and Macedonia: 18 nominations.
 
The evaluation of the nominated investigative stories is being done by independent juries in each country. The award ceremonies are expected until the end of June 2015.
 
The 2015 award fund for each country is 10,000 euro; 1-3 journalists shall be awarded in each country; 3000- 5000 euro per individual prize is to be awarded. 
 
The EU award for investigative journalism will be given each year in the period of three years, in 2015, 2016 and 2017.
