Democracy under a Rest (Zarobena demokratija), 2012.

A research study published by the non-governmental organization “Transparency Macedonia”.

Its main aim is not only to make a mapping of the ownership structure of the main media outlets in Macedonia but also to contextualize the established links in relation to other factors and structures which regulate, control, use or misuse their position in the media system. One of the main findings of the study is that that the political and business interests of the media owners have shaped the editorial policy of many relevant news media in the country for more than two decades.  It is a topic that substantially affects the media freedoms in the country. The media system, as well as the overall political, economic and societal transformation suffer from the same type of pathology – their democratic immature.
