Well-trained journalists are important for a modern democracy and media society. The Media Program South East Europe of Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) invites journalists, media experts, academics and students to a conference on professional training and values of young journalists.

PUBLIC CONFERENCE AND PANEL DISCUSSION

The public panel discussion is based on activities of the KAS Task Force "Journalistic Education". This international working group consists of media experts from universities and NGOs in South East Europe who gather in Tirana in the same time.

One of the conference topics is a recent opinion poll among students about their motivation to study journalism. The survey was conducted in Albania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Romania, and Serbia. Moreover, the political support for a modern journalistic education as well as ethical aspects will be discussed.

The conference will be opened by Christian Spahr, Head of the KAS Media Program South Europe.

Afterwards different aspects of journalistic education will be discussed in a panel by the following experts:

  • Dr. Sami Neza, University of Tirana, Vice-Chairman Audiovisual Media Authority (AMA)
  • Viktorija Car, Assistant Professor, University of Zagreb
  • Orlin Spassov, Associate Professor, University of Sofia

The audience is welcome to participate in the discussion (Q&A session).
