Montenegro EU Award announcement: Investigative journalism represents an added value for the rule of law
A press conference announcing the EU Investigative Journalism Contest was held at the EU Info Centre in Podgorica on 17th of March 2015. 
 
On that occasion, the Head of the Delegation of the European Union, Ambassador Mitja Drobnič, emphasized that the freedom of expression represents one of the key indicators of a given country’s readiness to become a part of the European Union, and that the investigative journalism, once it is carried out in a professional manner while complying with ethical standards, represent an added value for the rule of law.
 
- It contributes that public gets invested into cases where there is an abuse of public funds or which show hoe public official abuse the power, he explained.
 
- Work of journalist, once it is of a good quality and based on reliable information, represents an added value, but it cannot replace in any way the work of the prosecutor’s office, police or courts - the Head of the Delegation of the European Union has stated.
 
The Director of the Montenegro Media Institute, Ms Ljiljana Žugić, and national project coordinator, informed the public on the EU Investigative Journalism Contest details.
